President
Charles “Kim” Coit graduated from Boston College Law school in 1971. He practiced law in Boston for 5 years before moving to Maine to be the Director of the Center for Real Estate Education at the University of Southern Maine and Assistant Professor of Real Estate Finance.
After 10 years at the University, he returned to the private sector as Vice President of Mark Stimson Associates (Maine’s then-largest real estate agency with 150 +/- sales associates) to be Director of Training and compliance officer. In 1998, he was president of the Maine Association of Realtors. He was chairman of the Maine Association of Realtors Contract Review Committee which developed and now updates annually, transaction forms used widely by real estate companies statewide.
He currently consults with various real estate agencies, continues his love of education through his teaching and writing. He founded Shipley Publishing where he publishes real estate textbooks for pre-licensing and continuing education courses.
In addition to his ongoing interest in supporting new licensees as they start their careers, he has mentored youngsters at the Long Creek Youth Development Center and currently serves on the boards of two non-profits, The Portland Center for Restorative Justice, and Community Compass, an organization whose mission is to break the cycle of poverty in Hancock County.
