Description

There are two types of students who will be interested in materials to prepare for the Maine Law Exam administered by Pearson Vue.

  1. If you hold a real estate license in a state other than Maine, you can acquire an equivalent Maine license by passing just the Maine Law Exam.
  2. Certain Maine Broker or Associate Broker lapsed licenses may be reinstated by passing the Maine Law Exam, rather than requiring students to start with the Sales Agents Course.

If you are eligible to take the Maine Law exam (because #1 or #2 above describes your situation), you need to know:

  • what Maine Laws are on the test and
  • where to find study materials.

You have come to the right place: Here is what we offer for those studying for the Maine Law Exam:

  • A list of topics tested on the Maine Law Exam. This comes from The Candidate Handbook published by Pearson Vue.
  • Study materials that cover the Maine laws to be tested, including
    • a. Text book: Introduction to a Successful Career in Maine Real Estate
    • b. Maine License Law Reference Book
    • c. A document that explains where in the texts the student will find explanations of the laws covered on the Pearson Vue Exam. And
    • d. Practice Test questions, a book of 300 practice questions.
    • e. Consultation with the author, Charles “Kim” Coit, JD on any questions about the materials.
    • If one of these conditions applies to you, the Maine Law Exam Prep will assist you in passing the Maine Law examination administered by Pearson Vue.

Check with the Maine Real Estate Commission to be sure you qualify for the “law portion” of the exam.
You can download the Pearson VUE Candidate Handbook. Read the handbook to learn about the process. Focus on the Content Outline for the Maine Real Estate Law Examinations where you will find the list of topics tested on the “law portion”.

The Maine Law Exam Prep Materials were designed to assist you in passing the Maine Law examination administered by Pearson Vue. This exam can be taken by someone holding a real estate license from another state, or who has let their Maine Associate Broker or Broker license expire or go inactive. Once the exam is passed, you can submit an application for the appropriate Maine Associate Broker or Broker license.

A non-resident, or a Maine resident, who holds an active license in good standing in another state or licensing jurisdiction may qualify for a similar license in Maine by passing the Maine Law examination. Non-resident candidates must be licensed in the state in which they reside to qualify under this provision.

Also, an individual who has allowed a Broker or Associate Broker license to expire or has been inactive for more than 6 years may reinstate the license by passing the Maine Law examination. Candidates applying under this provision will qualify for the same type of license as previously held.

If one of these conditions applies to you, the Maine Law Exam Prep will assist you in passing the Maine Law examination administered by Pearson Vue.
